I have just added the Outbrain ratings widget to this blog, so now you can rate tips to show your opinion. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do from the start of this project, but I was not able to find a Wordpress plugin that did what I wanted. Thanks to Outbrain for releasing their widget in October of 2007, it is exactly what I was looking for.
I found the widget after noticing that Feedblitz had started including Outbrain ratings in their feed-to-email service.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find that I could easily activate a feed flare in Feedburner so that people picking up tips via RSS feed could also rate them.
You do not need an Outbrain account in order to rate posts. Just click a star and you are done. However, if you do set up an Outbrain account, then they offer a personalized feed that uses an algorithm to make content suggestions to you based on your past rating history. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of content Outbrain thinks I will like.
I was not able to find a widget that will allow top rated posts to be displayed in the sidebar, but I believe my programmer will be able to use the Outbrain API to display top posts. Hopefully, that will be a live feature in the next few days.
Next time you read a tip, please take a moment to click a star and rate it. You will find the ratings option at the bottom of each post.
Thanks,
Doug

My apologies for taking so long to get back to you.
No need for your parogrammer to do the job, we already did it!! Please get back to me, and I’ll instruct you on how to add Outbrains’ Most Popular Widget to go along with your Rating Widget :).
It’s still in beta stage, but I am sure you’ll enjoy it!
Cool! I’m excited to see what you have. I think we will still play around with the API to see what can be done with it, but I’m glad you already have a ‘top rated posts’ widget.!
I sent you an email asking how to get it.
