Exploring the Idea of a "BlogJam"

While I was doing Dr. Mani’s blogathon, I got an inkling of just how powerful it can be to have multiple bloggers writing on a specific topic (or for a specific cause) at the same time.  Since then an idea has been bubbling around the base of my skull and has started to surface into the more northern regions of my brain.

The idea is a BlogJam — getting a bunch of Internet Marketing bloggers together for a specific period of time, maybe 24 hours, maybe just a few hours, to discuss a specific topic.  With tools like Twitter, the Warrior Forum, Digg, and Delicious to pull it all together, it could be really cool — I see it working kind of the way panel discussions work at a live seminar.   Each member of the panel gets to share their wisdom and angle on the topic and the conversation evolves based on the input from the group.

For instance, what if I was able to get Daily Marketing Ace featured contributors, and other bloggers who want to join in, to unite around the topic of traffic generation.  Or maybe something more specific like social bookmarking.  It wouldn’t be hard to aggregate the posts from all of the participants into a single location with an RSS aggregator.  Comments in Twitter could also, similarly be aggregated with a special Twitter account.

OK. Admittedly, it’s a little loose and conceptual right now, but a vision is forming.  I think it would be a great way to co-create some awesome content (and maybe sell it later?).

Hmm, maybe I’ll reach out to some bloggers and see what they think.

That’s a great idea Billy. I haven’t done much with Flickr photos, but it would be fun to include photos with a specific tag.

If ultimately, I hope the participants of the BlogJam can co-create an ebook with the content. The Flicker photos would be a great way to add eye candy.
