What is marketing? Have you ever tried to answer that question? Although we do marketing every day, providing a clear definition of marketing is a bit of a challenge. Here’s the definition I use: “Marketing is the business activity of creating value, communicating value, and exchanging value to satisfy the needs of businesses and individuals.” What do you think? Did I get it right?

I really like your focus on the concept of value within the transaction between the marketer and the potential customer. Where we can create massive value for our customers then we are meeting their needs and building long term relationships.
Take care

Thanks Paul. Funny, as I was writing this I remembered a comment by an exec in a meeting I was in last week. He said “the first thing we need to do is create a need for this technology.” Sigh.
That kind of thinking is what gives marketers a bad name!
