Keeping Your Assistants & Their Work Organized

When starting out with an assistant it’s pretty easy keeping track of their work, but as you grow into a team of helpers, it can get pretty hectic. When you get to that point (or before) a task management system will make things run much smoother.

This type of software makes it easy to see projects, assign them to assistants and track progress. I keep organized (and sane) with TasksPro.com.

Great point Alice. I’ll have to check out TasksPro.com. I use http://www.Near-Time.com to work with my team. It helps with tasks, file sharing, and discussions. I don’t use their task tool right now. We just make lists.

BTW. I’m glad to see you promoting Outsourcing Sweetie in your sig line. It’s worked great for me!

Another one to check out is http://www.basecamphq.com/ - it’s a really sophisticated system and very comprehensive. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s all web-based and no option to install on your server.

Oh…forgot to add. The fact that it’s web-based means it carries a monthly fee which is quite steep. The communication it offers is well worth it, but it would be nicer if you could buy the script outright.

I’ve dabbled in Basecamp and I know they have a large and loyal following. It didn’t quite fit what I wanted when I looked at it though.

Good point about the monthly fees. I’m definitely moving toward tools I can put on my server and hack if need be. An open source collaboration tool would be nice.
