Overly optimistic goals and deadlines you can’t meet make you feel like a failure—and echo down through everything else you do. Enough “failures” from unrealistic expectations, and you start to believe you are a failure. So you give up trying.
Set your expectations high enough to be a stretch, but low enough to be reachable, and success will be yours.

Thanks for your comments Mark. I’ve not been a big fan of deadlines either, but I do find that deadlines help to complete projects.
For me, the key is to be very realistic about deadlines and learn to build in the inevitable time that gets eaten up by un-expected events and circumstances.
