Use Twitter to Expand Your Network

It’s hard to explain the value of Twitter.com to someone who doesn’t use it, but for me, this is one of the greatest networking tools out there.  Twitter let’s others follow you as you answer the question “what are you doing?”  It is amazing just how quickly you can get to know people and let people get to know you though this tool.  Try it yourself, and I think you will see what I mean.

Caroline Middlebrook has created a very comprehensive guide to using Twitter here: http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/twitter-guide/

She continues to add to it, and I have found it to be incredibly valuable.

Doug, you are preaching to the choir. I’ve had very good luck with Twitter as a networking tool. In fact, I keep 2 profiles and Twitter as one of our corporate brands.

Not only have I made some great contacts, but I have actually hired authors and editors via Twitter callouts.

I write about my Twitter experience often at my blog ckwebb.com or follow me on twitter.

Chris. Interesting that you have actually hired freelancers via Twitter. In a similar experience, I put out a request on Twitter for reviewers for my new eBook (before I posted to this blog) and immediately had 5 responses out of only about 30 people following me at the time.

I’ve also thought about creating a Twitter profile for Daily Marketing Ace (as a brand) but have not yet done it. I’ll have to figure out how to manage two profiles first, but it shouldn’t be too hard.

Thanks for your comments. I’m now off to follow you on Twitter!

I’m still playing around with twitter as a networking tool. So far it’s gotten traffic for a WSO, and also a sale for a content writing special I was running. I’ve also gotten more traffic and comments on my blog. But I’d love to learn more on how to use it effectively. I am always impressed by webword (the Rhodes Bros) use of the platform. He (not sure if it is John or Matt or both) has a good mix of idle chatter, links and self promotional stuff.

    Hi Courtney,

I follow you on Twitter and I think you have mastered it quite well!

I also follow @webword (it’s John) and totally agree. I’ve found some great sites and resources from John’s links and he uses Twitter very well as a marketing tool. Heck, he seems to use EVERYTHING well as a marketing tool. LOL

Caroline Middlebrook’s guide is fantastic. It’s the best thing I’ve seen online about Twitter marketing, and you can’t beat the price.

By the way, I found this posting via Twitter…

    Hi John,

As you know, I’ve added you to the Daily Marketing Ace Twitter widget (say that five time fast!) in the sidebar. I think your use of Twitter is just about perfect for my tastes.

I can see what you are up to, but it’s not overwhelming.

Now, if I could just get you to open up comments on your blog, I’d be a happy camper :-D
